*Abeautiful admonition from Ubayy bin Ka’b (raḍīAllāhu’anhu)

*Salaamun 'alaykum wa rahmat-ul-lahi wa barakātuh* 

*A beautiful admonition from Ubayy bin Ka’b raḍīAllāhu’anhu…*

_In the name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) ._

🎙️A man said to Ubayy bin Ka’b رضي الله عنه:

*“Admonish me, and do not make it too much upon me, or I may forget.”* So he replied:

*“Accept the truth from whoever brings it to you, even if he is distant and detested; and reject falsehood from whoever brings it to you, even if he is beloved and close.*

 *And befriend the brothers/companions according to the level of their piety. And do not envy the living (due to their wealth/status etc.) except for that which you would envy the dead (good deeds/piety etc.).”*

Arabic text:

ومن مواعظ أُبَيّ بن كعب رضي الله عنه: أنَّ رجلاً قال له: عِظْني، ولا تُكْثِرْ عليَّ فَأَنْسَى، فقال له: اقْبَلِ الْحَقَّ مِمَّنْ جَاءَكَ به وإن كان بعيدًا بغيضًا، وارْدُدِ الباطلَ على مَن جَاءَكَ به وإن كان حبيبًا قريبًا، قال: وَآخِ الإخْوَانَ على قَدْرِ تَقْوَاهُم، ولا تَغْبِطِ الْحَيَّ إلا بما تَغْبِطُ المَيِّتَ.
