When Ayoub (AS) was in the depth of his suffering, he didn't
pretend that he wasn't hurting. Nor did he lose hope. He called
out to Allah, "Verily distress has seized me and You are the
most merciful of the merciful." (Quran 21:83) He
acknowledged his pain, but hope directly followed. His duaa
perfectly exemplifies this balance. You can acknowledge your
pain, while at the same time not falling into despair. You can
acknowledge your pain, while at the same time having full
hope in your deliverance. You can acknowledge that it's night
right now - while having full hope in the dawn.
