The fragrance emanating from the [breath of the] fasting person and the fragrance emanating from the [blood of the] martyr

*Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmat-ul-lahi wa barakātuh* 

*_Today is Thursday, Sunnah fast if you are able to_*

_In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) ._

🎙️Al-Hāfidh ibn Hajr al-Asqalāni [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:

“What can we gain from the statement of the Messenger of Allāh صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:

*‘[By Him in whose Hand is my soul], the fragrance emanating from the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allāh than the fragrance of musk.’*

The [fragrance emanating from the] breath of the fasting person is far greater [in the Sight of Allāh] than the blood of a martyr. This is because the blood of a martyr was likened to the fragrance of musk, while the fragrance from the fasting person’s breath was described as being even greater than the fragrance of musk. *This does not necessitate that fasting is more virtuous than martydom!’”*
