When Does The Time of Ṣalāt al-ʿIshāʾ End?

*Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmat-ul-lahi wa barakātuh* 

_In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) ._

*When Does The Time of Ṣalāt al-ʿIshāʾ End?*

«ما هو آخر وقت لصلاة العشاء.؟»

Questioner: *“Up until what time is it permissible to delay Ṣalāt al-ʿIshāʾ?”*

السائل: إلى أي وقت يسمح تأخير صلاة العشاء؟

*The Shaykh: Up until half of the night (has passed),*

الشيخ: إلى نصف الليل،

Since that has been clearly stated in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim,

حيث جاء الحديث في ذلك، صريحا في صحيح مسلم،

🎙️From the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allah b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: *“And the time for al-ʿIshāʾ is until half the night has passed.”*

من حديث عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص، قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم (ووقت صلاة العشاء إلى نصف الليل)،

*And (its time) is not until al-Fajr al-Ṣādiq (ie: the time of the true dawn prayer) appears,*

وليس إلى مطلع الفجر الصادق،

*For there is no dalīl (ie: proof) for that even if some of the Imāms say so,*

هذا لا دليل عليه وإن كان يقول به بعض الأئمة،

*Because that goes against this authentic ḥadīth, "And the time for al-ʿishāʾ is until half the night has passed.*

لأنه بل هو مخالف لهذا الحديث الصحيح ووقت صلاة العشاء إلى نصف الليل.
