Not Knowing What Awaits

*Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmat-ul-lahi wa barakātuh*

_Alhamdulillaah It's Another Friday, Yaumul Jumu'ah, Best Day of the Week._

*Not Knowing what Awaits... How many a person welcomes a day that he will not complete…*

_In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) ._

🎙️​‘Imrān al-Khayyāṭ related:

*​“We visited Ibrahim al-Nakh’i when he was sick, so when we entered upon him we found him crying. We asked him: what is that made you cry? He said: I am still waiting for the angel of death and I do not know whether he will tell me that I am in Hell or in Paradise.”*

🎙️‘Awn ibn ‘Abdillāh رحمه الله [d.120 H]:

*“How many a person welcomes a day that he will not complete, and how many a person anticipates tomorrow and he never reaches it.*

*If you were to (truly) contemplate the appointed term (death) and its course, you would hate false hope and its delusion.”*

وحدَّثني مَعْنٌ، عَنْ عَوْنٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: كَمْ مِنْ مُسْتَقْبِلٍ يَوْماً لا يَسْتَكْمِلُهُ، وَمُنْتَظِرٍ غَداً لا يَبْلُغُهُ، لَوْ تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الأَجَلِ وَمَسِيرِهِ لأَبْغَضْتُمُ الأَمَلَ وَغُرُورَهُ.
