Prohibition of taking another person's name as ones surname
Abu "Uthman an-Nahdi said: I heard Ibn Malik say:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever claims to belong to a father other than his father, knowingly, Paradise will be forbidden to him."
Sahih (Darussalam), al Bukhari (4326) and Muslim 63)]
Musnad Ahmad 1499
Arabic/English book : Book 8, Hadith 1499
This HADITH make us know that no matter the situation, one is not allowed to change one's surname, that is ones father's name except if that person isn't actually one's father which is the case of illegitimate child. In this situation, the child is prohibited from bearing the fathers name but bear the name Abdullah(servant of Allāh) as his/her surname.
May Allāh continue to guide us Ammmin
