Shaykh Dr. Sa’ad al-Khathlān said:
“You will not find a person who consistently performs the prayers in congregation at their proper times except that he has preserved the rest of his religious affairs. And you will not find someone negligent with the prayer except that he is even more negligent in everything else. Prayer is the true measure.”
ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to his governors:
“The most important matter to me concerning you is the prayer. Whoever safeguards it and maintains it has safeguarded his religion, and whoever neglects it will be even more neglectful of everything else.”
